HISTORY
Burton Court Manor has a long and fascinating history, being mentioned in the Domesday Book which was originally commissioned by William the Conquerer; BURTON was originally spelled Beuretune. It is thought that the word 'Burton' may be derived from the old Saxon words 'bur' & 'ton' (meaning a fortified area/place).
Surviving parts of the manor date back to the reign of Edward III (1330's), and later the manor saw the troops of Prince Henry of Wales being stationed here to monitor the movements of Owain Glyndwr and his uprising attempts.
The most famous families associated with Burton Court are the Brewsters and the Clowes.
From the early 1900's the house saw its frontage redesigned by the famou architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis.
In 1960 Burton Court manor was bought by its present owners Lieut. Cdr. Robert Macaulay Simpson, as a residential property, and today it is a popular wedding venue.

GHOSTS AND HAUNTINGS
As you might expect, buildings of this age often conjur up thoughts of ghosts and hauntings, and Burton Court does not disappoint.

THE FIGURE IN THE BILLIARD ROOM
One of the most famous - or infamous - sightings at Burton Court is that of a mysterious figure seen in the Billiard Room. Nobody ism quite sure who this is, but it is believed to be a former inhabitant of the manor.

THE HAUNTED HALL
Over the years there have been multiple ghostly apparitions seen in and around the hall at Burton Court, and hopefully one or two of these will make themselves known to us tonight!

THE MISCHIEVOUS POLTERGEIST
Another well known and witnessed paranormal activity that occurs at Burton Court is the poltergeist. Objects have been witnessed being moved by unseen forces, especially in the bedroom areas. Keep a sharp eye open at all times when you're here!

THE UNEXPLAINED LIGHTS
Numerous unexplained lights have been encoutered within Burton Court, including a rather impressive light anomaly which was almost three feet wide! This light proceeded to move down a corridor within the cellars before suddenly vanishing.

YOUR DH EVENT INCLUDES:
Overnight investigation with the Dead Haunted team..
A brief explanation of investigation equipment before using it.
A familiarisation tour of the building in lit conditions prior to the lights going out.
Participation in vigils and paranormal experiments (participation is optional).
Snacks, refreshments and use of equipment will be provided throughout the event.
There will be a post investigation discussion of any paranormal activity encountered.

I was so apprehensive about my first investigation at Woodchester Mansion but Phil, Sara and the team made me feel at ease and were warm and friendly. We had the added bonus of two special guests for the night - Dr. Ciaran O'Keeffe and Karl Beattie, they shared their knowledge and expertise with us in our group vigils ( Thanks for holding my hand Karl !) The whole night was organised brilliantly, great snacks and much needed hot drinks appreciated, good to meet other people interested in the paranormal and can't wait for my next investigation.
